June 14th, 2011 | Rss Feed

Wedding is the most important day of every one’s life, and the bride and groom are the center of attention for all the guests and relatives. Every bride and groom wants to look best in their wedding, and looking the best means feeling radiant, relaxed, and attractive. Keeping special care of hair, nails, makeup, and dress, before and during marriage, is very essential for looking gorgeous.

In order to keep their best foot forward, many couples start taking care of themselves many days even months before the wedding.  The preparation for the wedding includes selecting clothes, personal grooming, weight shedding etc. However, before you hop on to the preparations’ schedule like what to wear or what hair style will be the right for you, have a good look at your skin and start taking care of it in order to flaunt the radiance you always want to display.

It is very important to have radiating and supple skin to look stunning. Always use sunscreen wherever you go out in sun, and fully cover yourself with sunglasses and hat. Start taking skin treatment if you have any kind of skin problems like acne, dry flakes etc. Consult a skin specialist and start taking a proper diet including essential vitamins and minerals that benefits your skin and rejuvenates it along with toning your body. To maintain your skin’s glow, drink at least eight glasses of water a day. Water hydrates your skin and flushes the toxins, out of your body. It also helps to lose excessive weight and burn calories.

So, if you want to look outstandingly stunning, start from today. Make an exercise chart, which includes exercise schedule four to five times a week and a healthy diet. Doing exercise will burn your calories or extra fat and boost your energy level. Exercising not only helps you look better it also makes you feel better.  If you do not know how to go about it, then hire a fitness trainer who will make a fitness program according to your capabilities and problem areas.

For having a new start in life, it is important that you rest to the fullest and rejuvenate yourself with spa treatment and massage sessions. Taking spa treatment is the best way to rejuvenate your mind, body, and soul. Aromatic oil and herbs will take out all your tiredness and make you feel relax, exotic and unwind. Visit salons that offer special packages for wedding treatment for couples.

The next important preparation for your wedding is your dress, so make sure that you have enough time to select the dress that suits you best.  A bride should select a wedding gown that is unique in itself and fits her body shape. Moreover, pick the one in which you can easily walk, dance, and stand comfortably. Keep your looks simple and elegant, and do not forget to consult your stylist about your hairstyle and accessories. Don’t forget to do a proper dress rehearsal with complete hair and makeup to ensure that you don’t miss on anything on the D-day.

To look stunning on your wedding, follow these few steps and make your day memorable forever.

Loosing weight for the Groom

March 10th, 2008 | Rss Feed

Hello all,

The best thing to share is to share my own experience.  Being 50 pounds over weight can be shared by many-a-man around the world.  I want to share my story with you as a healthy way to lose weight for your wedding.

Many family and friends have signed up for Weight Watchers in the past.  My wife and I have even done WW in the past.  Therefore, we have all the info and books already.  We didn’t need to purchase any info.  If you have never done WW before, I would recommend at least signing up to get all the documentation.  It doesn’t mean you need to go to the weekly meetings and weigh in.  However, keeping track and counting points is vital to sticking to the diet.

It took about a month to get used to counting points but keep a journal.  That way, you can always refer back to it when you can’t remember how many points a meal was when you have had it once before.  In addition, if you like to eat out as much as us, go to Applebee’s.  Applebee’s has a special WW menu with the points already on the menu for easy calculations.

The first 2 weeks I lost 10 lbs.  The second 2 week, I lost 6 lbs.  Then, I lost 4 and 4.  Keep in mind that a healthy weight loss is 2 pounds per week!  In 2 months, I lost 24 pounds.

One of the most important things during the diet I did was a simple exercise routine.  I did cardio 5 days a week for 15-20 minutes per day.  The medium is called the “urban rebounder”.  The rebounder is a little trampoline I paid $60 for including the videos.  When I first started, I couldn’t even get through the warm up.  After a month, I can complete the basic workout.  Remember, ALWAYS stretch before and after the workout.

In addition to the cardio, I also completed strength training 3 days a week.  This included 12 exercises with dumbbells.  The exercises included exercises like the shoulder shrug, curls, triceps extensions, military press, push-ups, etc.

So there you have it.  If you have the determination to lose weight, you will with the right diet and exercise.  I am a testimony to that!

I also wanted to mention….why Weight Watchers?  On the diet, you can eat ANYTHING.  However, you just need to account for it.  WW also teaches everyone portion control.

Oh happy day,

Matt Campbell

Top Ten Beauty Secrets Every Bride Should Know

Top Ten Beauty Secrets Every Bride Should Know

Every bride wants to look ravishing on her big day, so here are the top ten beauty tricks you need to know about to wow your groom when you do that aisle walk.

Tip 1 – Start a skincare routine as soon as possible.
Go to a department store at a quiet time and get a few free skincare consultations. Discuss any skin problems you may have and find out what kind of skincare regimen would most benefit you. Make sure you pick up a good exfoliation product.

Tip 2 – Drink at least two liters of water a day.
This will cleanse your system of toxins, keeping your complexion clear and giving it a bright, luminous look.

Tip 3 – Use high factor sunscreen.
Sun exposure dries your skin out, makes it look patchy and pigmented and gives you premature wrinkles. Protect your skin with high factor sunscreen and you’ll have a smooth, even complexion for your wedding day.

Tip 4 – Go with a fake tan.
If you want a tanned look, visit a beautician for a professional fake tanning treatment. Steer clear of products that may stain your dress and be sure to exfoliate thoroughly beforehand. Arrange your final application a couple of days before your wedding.

Tip 5 – Visit the hairdressers every 6 to 8 weeks.
Ask for a deep conditioning treatment each time you visit the hairdresser. The results will amaze you.

Tip 6 – Get into shape the easy way.
Make good diet and exercise part of your routine. You should be doing at least half an hour’s aerobic exercise a minimum of three times a week, so choose something you enjoy doing like dancing, running, swimming or cycling. Eat plenty of fruit, vegetables and high protein food like fish, meat, seafood and poultry.

Tip 7 – Use hand cream every day and give yourself a manicure once a week.
Finish off with a professional, classic French manicure and perhaps even a pedicure the day before your wedding.

Tip 8 – When it comes to pre-wedding hair removal, waxing is your best option.
It gives the smoothest finish of all and will keep you hair-free throughout your honeymoon.

Tip 9 – Leave hair colouring to the professionals.
No home hair dye kits please! If you want to experiment with a new colour, try it out well before your wedding day so you have time to change it if it doesn’t look good. You can’t go wrong with natural looking highlights which complement your skin tone and highlight your eyes.

Tip 10 – Choose an excellent makeup artist and hairdresser.Interview several people before you make your choice, and look at photos of brides they have made up in the past. Your makeup artist and hairdresser are there to make you look great all day and you’ll find their expertise invaluable.

How To Look Great On Your Wedding Day

How To Look Great On Your Wedding Day

Looking great on your wedding day means being radiant, relaxed, and ready to start a brand new existence with the person whom you’ve chosen to spend your life with. Your hair, nails, makeup, dress – and how you look in that dress – are all part of becoming the bride you want to be on that special day. Since pictures taken on that day remain part of your life forever, it’s important to look and feel your best.

Your dress is one of the most important items in your wedding plans, so make sure you take enough time to choose one that suits you – not your best friend, not your bridesmaids, and not your mother. For the day of your wedding, you’ll want a dress in which you can stand, walk and dance in without worrying about “wardrobe malfunctions” or causing you discomfort. Allow necessary time if you decide on having the dress made, but even if bought “off the rack,” you’ll need to factor in time for tailoring and any adjustments.

You don’t want to overpower your dress and headpiece with a flamboyant hair style or color that overwhelms everything else. Keep it simple and classic, and remember to practice the look you want at home or with your stylist before the wedding day.

Have your nails professionally manicured the day before the wedding. This is one thing you don’t want to do far in advance. Reduce the chances of a broken nail, chipped polish, or if using applied nails, one coming off, by having your manicure as late as possible. If you are not inclined toward colored polishes or long fingernails, make sure they are neatly trimmed, filed, polished, and buffed. Your hands will be a focus of attention when showing off that new wedding ring and for photos!

Makeup is the last thing you’ll need to worry over, and that comes on the big day, itself. Don’t try to transform yourself into a different person with dramatic eye makeup or garish lipstick. Make the real you look better!

Use a slightly heavier hand than with your usual daytime makeup so your photos won’t have you appearing washed-out looking, but don’t overdo it. And if your wedding is at night, with more subtle lighting, apply makeup as though you were going to a club or restaurant at night – a little heavier than daytime, but not much! Avoid deep red lipstick as well as too-pale pink. Frosted eye shadows or lipsticks are definite no-no’s.

Buy fresh mascara to avoid clumping. Also, if you have sensitive skin, this is NOT the time to try a new brand. The last thing you want to do is head for the altar with blotches or zits thanks to an allergic reaction.

The night before your wedding is not the time for partying so get eight hours of restful sleep. If you’re having a rehearsal dinner, or a bachelorette bash, make sure that it ends early. Drink moderately or, better yet, not at all. Bloodshot eyes and a banging hangover will not make for a fun wedding.

Don’t gorge yourself the night before because we all know that there are strange forces at work which will try to make your wedding gown just a wee bit snug in the morning. To overcome excitement and nerves, try taking a long walk – it can help with pre-nuptial jitters. A relaxing bath with soothing background music, a cup of herbal tea, and you should be ready to doze off with images of a happy future marriage in your dreams.

With these tips, you’re sure to have the perfect wedding day. May this day be the beginning of a lifetime of joy and happiness!

11 Tips For Beautiful Bridal Hair

December 28th, 2006 | Rss Feed

11 Tips For Beautiful Bridal Hair

1. Be true to yourself

Don’t choose a hairstyle that makes you feel not yourself. Brides often get pressured into certain styles because of “tradition”. If a particular style makes you feel uneasy, don’t choose it. It does not matter that your mother, best friend or hairstylist like it – what really matters is YOU.

2. Develop a clear idea

Before going to the stylist, try to develop a good idea of what type of hairstyle you would like. Cut out the pictures of your favorite hairstyles from magazines and bring them to the stylist. If you can’t find any pictures, be prepared to describe exactly what you want.

3. Do a practice run

Try out the hairstyle in advance, before your wedding day. Schedule the “practice run” with your stylist. If the hairstyle that you envisioned does not look as good on you as you had hoped, you’ll be glad you found that out before the big day!

4. Is it comfortable?

Walk around with this hairstyle for several hours to make sure it’s comfortable. The last thing you would want is to have hair pins hurting you and ruining your fun.

5. Take pictures

At the “practice run”, bring a Polaroid or digital camera to take instant pictures. Ask the stylist to take pictures from the back and other angles. The pictures will give you a better idea how the style would look to others (as opposed to just looking in the mirror).

6. Does it hold up?

Make sure your hair style does not get completely messed up several hours later. Try moving around and see if the hair stays put. You would not want a hair disaster during the first dance!

7. Matching with your dress

Your hair style should go well with your wedding dress and headpiece. Classic dresses go best with classic hairstyles. Non-traditional dresses might look odd with the formal updos. Buy the dress before you select a hairstyle. Bring your headpiece and the picture of your dress to the stylist, so the stylist can evaluate whether it’s a good match.

8. Watch out for chemicals

Don’t have any coloring or chemical treatments done right before the wedding – these can go wrong, and there won’t be time to fix them! Do them several weeks in advance.

9. Stay consistent

Don’t make drastic changes. Your wedding day is not the time to color your hair in a completely different color or cut off long locks. After all, you would still want people to recognize you at your own wedding!

10. Beware of the height effect

Be aware that updos will make you look taller. Depending on your situation, it might work for you or against you. If you are already taller than the groom or are the same height, don’t do an updo. If you are short, use the updo to your advantage.

11. Keep it sensible

Don’t make your hairstyle too flamboyant – it should not compete with your face and your dress. You would want to avoid the situation where your hair is the only thing that jumps out at people when they look at you.
