How to Find Perfect Wedding Jewelry

Jul
28

Wedding jewelry is one of the few things that a bride adores the most in her wedding. Jewelry is an important part of bridal attire, which enhances bride’s beauty. Deciding on bridal jewelry is emotional as well as expensive affair which is why it is important to select it cautiously. There are various jewelry pieces a bride can wear on her wedding day, however, if she selects them according to her wedding gown then she can get the perfect look without going overboard.

There is a wide array of wedding jewelry available in the market ranging from wedding rings to bridal tiaras. Wedding jewelry is an element that makes a bride looks beautiful and elegant. A bride can make her choices from various options such as diamond jewelry, pearl jewelry, or other stones. One can choose from precious or semi precious stones, jewelry does not need to be very expensive. Keeping style and looks in the mind can help you land on the right kind of set for your special day.

While choosing jewelry for your wedding, keep the neckline and dress details as the top most consideration. The wedding gown decides whether you should go for simple or more elaborated jewelry. If you have an open neckline gown then wearing a heavy necklace will work beautifully to complete your look. If the gown has high neck then wearing earrings and a bracelet would be enough.

Next, while selecting other accessories for your bridal jewelry, you should consider the color of your wedding gown. Whichever jewel you go for, it should match with your gown and not overshadow it. You would not like to select something which makes your wedding dress less attractive.  If you are wearing a beaded and sparkly gown, then go for a subtle necklace and earring, not to take  attention away from the gown. The other most important tip is to keep your skin tone and hair color in consideration before making your pick.

Keep it as simple as you possibly can. Simplicity can add elegance and style to your looks. Go for pearls, as they look classic and beautifully complement a white gown. Pearls look simple and flatter easily with almost every type of skin tone. Pearls do not look flashy in day time weddings as other stones may look.  Another important tip, choose your jewelry according to the time of your wedding. Go for diamond or stone jewelry to add bling to your whole attire.  Vintage jewelry is also in trend right now and can add exclusive dimension to your bridal look. You can also go for rubies, emeralds, and sapphires, precious or semi precious jewelry sets to look beautiful and elegant.

Last but not the least, jewelry is an essential part of you wedding day, but make sure that it does not overpower your beauty. Keeping it subtle and simple can make you look one in a million. You can add earrings, necklace, bracelet, ring, and tiara with your wedding gown. However, wearing all these jewelries at the same time can make you look like a Christmas tree. So, wisely select your jewelry to get that oomph factor and spellbound your groom.

Great Wedding Catering Tips

Jul
27

If your wedding is around the corner, then getting the best caterer must be the top most concern on your wedding planning list. Questions like what to do, where to go and who to contact, can bother you the most while making wedding arrangements. Marriage is a once in lifetime affair and everyone tries to keep their best foot forward. Catering is the most expensive and important aspect while planning for a wedding since as much as one third of the entire wedding budget can be spent on catering alone. Arranging the best caterer who meets all your food and budgetary requirements can take a lot of research and scrutiny. With smart work and following the given tips, you can easily get the caterer who can satisfy all your needs on that special day. Let’s have a look at how to go about selecting a caterer for wedding.

First, if you are in position, how to select a caterer, then keep three answers ready to put forward before inquiring about a caterer. As you will call caterer, every caterer will ask about date and time of your wedding, number of guests and wedding formality and style. In addition, if you have any specific preferences, let the caterers know so that they can be prepared for the first interview with you. In initial meetings, talk to the caterers about your food preferences and most importantly the budget.

If at all possible, talk to friends, family or co-workers and see if anyone can recommend a caterer they have used in the past.  One of the best advertisements you can review is word of mouth.  When you start calling caterers, they will ask certain questions. They will want to know the date and time of your wedding, number of guests, wedding formality and type of food wanted. In addition, if you have any specific preferences (vegetarian dishes), let the caterers know so that they can be prepared at the first interview with you. In initial meetings, talk to the caterers about your food preferences and most importantly the budget.

Discussion about style of reception for example food stations, buffet, sit down dinner, or cocktail reception, and type of food should take place in your initial meeting, as it gives a clear vision to the caterer about the budget. If you are not familiar with the caterer, you can ask them to present a food sample to taste so that you can examine their culinary skills. Moreover, do not forget to check how attractively the food was presented. If this caterer did not come recommended by someone you know, ask for references and call a few of the references so that you can confirm about the past performance of the caterer.

In house and off- premise catering has varied charges due to set up fees. Most caterers charge per person, so it is completely up to you how you want to keep the arrangements of your wedding. Some caterers offer discounts and special menus for kids; so do not forget to enquire about these options. If you are very particular about style and have specific taste, then, when hiring a caterer do not forget to make special notation about crockery and dinnerware. You might be charged little more for that, but your style will be intact and show more of your personality.

Apart from that, service is another thing that should be considered while choosing a caterer. Be sure to confirm about the ratio of waiters to guests, which should ideally be around one waiter to 8-10 guests. It is important that servers are highly professional in their mannerisms and dress. Lastly, make a final guest count a week before the wedding, as it is important to estimate the wedding expenses. Most reception halls include things like tables, linen and table dressings, but if you are looking for something special make sure you mention it to your caterer. With these tips, you will defiantly make your reception one to remember.

Trash The Dress

Jul
25

So the vows have been exchanged, the cake has been cut and you are now officially a Mrs. While you are still basking in the “after wedding” glow one may wonder, what do I do with my beautiful wedding dress? For many, they choose to preserve their gown, either as a keep-sake, or in the hopes that they will pass it down their future daughter.  However, if you are not looking at preserving or passing down your gown, there is an artistic and fun way to get one last hoorah out of your dress.

A Trash the Dress photo shoot is where the bride completely “trashes” her fairy tale gown to capture a once in a life time photo. These pictures are as unusual as they are memorable. The entire trash the dress phenomenon has made a huge impact since it was introduced in early 2000, and ever since then brides are searching for new ways to top existing trends. Trash the dress allows both bride and groom to present an alternative flare to the dos and don’ts associated with traditional weddings.

One thing to consider when in search of a photographer is their portfolio, and that it should contain a section of trash the dress photos. Not only will you be able to view their photography skills but you will also get some fun, new ideas and poses that you could use in your session.  Be clear with your photographer and what your vision is.  You only get one shot at trashing this beautiful dress, and you want to be sure that you are getting the shots that you envision.

There are so many possibilities when it comes to ways to trash your dress.  Much of it depends on where you live and the time of year.  Brainstorm areas where it would be unlikely that a beautiful white gown would be.  Do you live near train tracks or an old train yard?  How about a funky part of town with old or run-down buildings?  Are you near a lake, streams or the ocean?  Once you have your location picked out, then the fun really begins!  Don’t be afraid of getting on the ground, kneeling in mud, lying on your back and really getting dirty.  Climb trees, rocks or fences.  Snow and rain make for some beautiful shots, so don’t be deterred if the weather calls for rain or snow on the day of your wedding!

If you live near the mountains, how about you drive up the canyons and get some great shots climbing on rocks, wading in streams, rolling in open fields and wandering through trees.  If you live near water, like the ocean, consider a water photo-shoot.  Wear your gown as you splash and swim in the water, roll in the sand, and explore the shoreline.

Just remember, this photo-shoot is meant to be dirty and a bit funky.  At first it will most likely feel a little strange getting your dress dirty.  You were so careful with it before and during your wedding, that actually getting down on a dirty floor with it will seem a bit strange. However, after a few minutes and a few great shots, you will ease into in and it will be fun to “Trash the Dress”!

How to Organize the Perfect Bridal Shower?

Jul
19

Wedding shower is an emotional as well as exciting moment that is shared between the bride and her family and friends. People use many creative ideas and ways to make it memorable, which includes lots of fun and enjoyment. If you are going to be a bridesmaid and are planning one such bridal shower for your friend, then read the following tips to make the shower party enthralling and unforgettable.

Holding a great party does not mean that it should be expensive and extravagant. You can keep it low profile and less expansive at the same time with lots of fun and pleasure. The concept of a bridal shower is about bringing all the closest relatives and friends at the same place for having fun. Instead of concentrating towards how to bring perfection to the party concentrate towards how you could bring excitement to the party so that everyone could share, laugh and cherish this moment forever.

Coordinating party is really exciting and gives you lots of experience while organizing it. Keep the party unique and imaginative, which carries the essence of the bride’s personality and style into the shower. Keep the budget of the party as your top priority while planning for it. It will be good, if you plan it well in advance. Invite the guests, set themes or follow bridal shower favors trend according to your budget.

Tell each person, who is about to attend party, to turn up with a wrapped gift, you can also decide price limit for the gift if you want. You can also decide theme for the gifts, if the party that you are throwing is theme based. You can also ask your guests to bring homemade bridal shower gift instead buying one off the shelf. It will add lots of emotion, sentiments, and guest’s personal feelings to this event. It’s necessary for everyone to have made the gifts by themselves; one can buy bridal gifts and turn it into personalized bridal shower gifts by engraving gift with couple’s initials and adding hand written notes and wishes for the bride and groom.

When it comes to selecting the venue for bridal shower, then you should choose it according to the number of guests and off course your budget. It is usually organized at home, although it is not mandatory that it is yours or the bride’s home. You can also conduct it in a hall or on the beach, if you are inviting loads of people to the shower. While deciding when to hold it, it would be good if you conduct it six to seven weeks before the wedding.

To make it more exciting, you can also invite the future groom to the party turning it into couple’s shower. You can also invite guests of groom’s side also. The more will the guest be the more will be the impact on the games you will play at the party for having fun. Invite all the guests in the bridal shower who are also invited in the wedding day.

How to Select Your Wedding Bouquet

Jul
14

Wedding bouquets can be considered as one of the accessories that go with the wedding gown of the bride. Insignificant of the other floral arrangements at the wedding venue, the shape, size, color and design of the wedding bouquet has to be personally selected by the bride. The wedding bouquet also forms a part of one of the wedding traditions according to which the bride has to throw the bouquet behind her back towards the bachelorettes present at the wedding and whoever of them succeeds to catch, she is said to be the earliest bride in line.

These bouquets can be formal, semiformal, or casual. Mostly, the choice of a wedding bouquet is done according to the color, length and texture of the wedding gown of the bride. However, it can also be selected keeping in mind the theme and decorations of the wedding ceremony. A good rule to follow while picking the bouquet according to the dress is to match it according to the length and flair of the gown. Fuller and long stemmed bouquets look good with elaborated gowns where as, little informal or short wedding dresses match better with smaller and more casual bouquets.

Basically there are four main types of bouquets namely cascade, nosegay, arm sheaf, and flower bracelet. These bouquets differ from each other based on their floral arrangements. The cascade bouquet, popularly called waterfall bouquet, tends to provide a cascading effect in bride’s hand. These bouquets are not perfectly tied up and rather have trails of flowers flowing out from different sides with a rounded bunch of flowers at the top. Such bouquets mostly contain colored flowers like Calla Lilies, Lisianthus, blooms of Roses and Orchids.

Other popular type of bouquet is the nosegay. Nosegay bouquet contains a sparse packing of flowers, where the main significance is on the top arrangement of the bouquet that is the flower petals and the lower part or the stem is generally kept covered through color paper or ribbon. Most popular flowers in this category are Roses, Lilies, Irises, and Tulips.

Arm Sheaf is the third popular category of wedding bouquets. As suggested by its name, this kind of bouquet is rested on one of your arms rather than being held by both the hands. Such bouquets have long stems and are long and versatile. The flowers in such bouquets are compiled with complimentary leaves and other decorative items. Most popular flowers in arm sheaf category are long-stemmed Roses, Delphiniums, Calla Lilies, and Gladiolus.

Another popular type of wedding bouquet includes flower bracelet. More than being a bouquet, it is a bracelet for brides made of flowers, as suggested by its name. These are made through small groupings of colorful flowers and are a good option to pair with short and casual wedding gowns.

Some other common categories of wedding bouquets are fan bouquets, Biedermeier Bouquet, Head Wreath, Basket Bouquets, Pomander Bouquet, etc. Whatever the type of bouquet is, the important thing is to keep a personal touch in it through your favorite colors and flowers.

How your hair-do should be on your wedding day?

Jul
13

Have you ever thought what compliments your wedding gown the most? Is it your make-up, your accessories or your wedding bouquet? Well, they all have their part to play but they cannot replace the role of your hair style. Even if you walk the aisle with the minimum of make-up, you will still look perfect when you have the right hair-do. But the concern is how to make sure that you select the right hair style. Take help of the tips given in this article to know what all you can consider for getting the perfect wedding hairstyle.

Firstly, don’t neglect the importance of a good hairstyle on your wedding day as everything you do on your wedding will always remain a memory for lifetime and you won’t like to recall your wedding hairstyle as something you would have done on regular days. Thus, as the first step to that perfect wedding hair-do, book a professional hair stylist for the day, well in advance. As the next step, make sure the decision for the hairstyle is not entirely of the stylist and you have your own opinions and choices involved in it. For starting with the selection, you can choose to pick a hairstyle from a wedding or fashion magazine or you can select from one of the options shown by your hair stylist.

The selection is also done upon the setting of your hair. Hair setting is dependent on your physique and face-cut rather than the wedding attire. Those who have a long face and slim neck can get an up-do in the form of a beautifully styled hair bun. This helps to enhance your slim looks. However, if you are on a little bulkier side or have a round face cut, then keeping your hair open will definitely be a good option. You can enhance them with stylish frills, highlights or curls. You can also opt for some messy curls for a more casual wedding theme.

Now, here it is important to understand that the hairstyle you choose would be mere base for the way you will tie up your hair. The basic difference in a normal hair-do and one for the wedding is the accessories used in it. This brings you to the next selection, which is choosing the hair accessories you want to wear. Hair accessories basically include jewellery pieces, decorative pins and bands, or flowers. The most common basis for selecting a hair accessory is the wedding attire. For example, if you are planning on a fairy tale wedding and your wedding gown is flaunty, then using a tiara or jewel pieces in the hair-do can be good option. If you have a Hawaiian wedding theme, then flowers are most likely to go with your hairstyle.

Before styling hair for the special day, brides can take help of some prior precautions. These precautions include pre-washing and conditioning of hair. Hairs are difficult to style when freshly washed. Dryness in hair is also difficult to tackle during the styling session. To make sure, none of such problems arises, ask for the required precautions from your hair stylist in advance, and look stunning in your wedding.

Top 5 ‘Shotgun’ Wedding Destinations

Jul
12

Can’t face the hassle of organizing a large scale wedding at home? Does the thought of both your families in the same room make you shudder? If so, why not pack a suitcase for you and your beloved and head off to get hitched at one of these five top ‘quickie’ wedding destinations…

Las Vegas

It may be a cliche, but every year, thousands of loved-up couples book flights to Las Vegas to get hitched in a hurry. Las Vegas remains the quickie wedding capital of the world for a very good reason – it’s easy, quick and, most importantly of all, fun, fun, fun. You’ll need a $60 marriage license issued by the State of Nevada (procured after an hour’s wait at the courthouse), and you’re set to get married at the wedding chapel or hotel of your choice. The whole thing can be achieved in two hours flat, so you’ll have plenty of time to try your luck at the casino or take in a show.

Kenya

If your spouse-to-be makes you feel like you’re walking on air, perhaps the idea of getting married in a hot air balloon appeals to you. Balloon weddings are offered in the Masai Mara, a large game reserve in Kenya featuring wildlife such as big cats, zebra, gazelles and wildebeest. Everything is arranged for you, and there is space for up to nine guests in the basket, should you want to share the magic moment with a few friends or family. The hour-long flight is followed by a champagne breakfast.

Bahamas

How about having a pair of friendly dolphins as your witnesses? Then take the ferry to Blue Lagoon Island from Nassau or Paradise Island, where you can get married after being resident for just 24 hours.

Slovenia

The sinister-sounding Bled Castle in Slovenia is in actual fact a castle that looks like it belongs in a fairytale. For those looking for something less grand, a short boat trip out to Bled Island gets you to a little church famous for its wishing bell. However, the groom is advised to do his push-ups in preparation for the big day – tradition demands that he carry the bride up all 99 steps to the church!

Switzerland

If your passion for your partner is hot, hot, hot, why not choose the coolest location of them all for your quickie wedding by tying the knot at the famous Iglu Dorf Hotel in Gstaad, carved entirely out of snow and kept at constant temperature of zero degrees. Steamy saunas, a private whirlpool bath, sheepskin rugs, mulled wine and thermal mattresses ensure that the romance doesn’t cool off during the honeymoon.

Choosing the Right Wedding Cake

Jul
07

Selecting the wedding cake is one of the delightful and delectable choices that you need to make while making arrangements of the wedding. Ideally, the booking time for a wedding cake is  six months before the wedding, and thus, the planning has to begin well in advance. While choosing a wedding cake the look and size of it carries the same significance as its taste. Thus, along with deciding the flavor of your cake you also have to plan on its looks and design.

The most important thing to be decided while booking a wedding cake is its flavor. When you choose a multi-tiered cake, you may also choose multiple flavors. In case of a single storied cake, you can try two flavors layered on each other.  Since your flavor choices are limited with one tier, you will want to consider what flavor would be more popular amongst your guests.  In case of doubt,  something common like vanilla would be a safe choice but your could also go with specialized flavors such as chocolate or strawberry.

The design ideas for a wedding cake can be taken from different wedding magazines and internet, or you can select from the various designs that your chosen bakery may provide. The design of a wedding cake should be according to its size. You can include more and more flavors and decorations in a single cake, if it’s large in size. For the look of the cake, either you can choose to keep it pristine white or you can give it a dash of vibrancy by including different colors. Size of the cake can be enhanced either by adding more tiers to it or by enlarging the  width of the single storied cake. The size should be decided as per the number of guests invited to the wedding.

Next thing that is to be considered while ordering a wedding cake is its shape. The shape of the wedding cake can be either round, square, or even hexagonal. The shape can also be of any of your favorite things. This way one can add a personal touch to their wedding cake. Such cakes also prove to be a good option for theme weddings.

The decoration on a wedding cake does not only include edible items but it is also done with flower petals, beads, and other such decorative items. Flowery decorations help to add a touch of nature to the cake.  Decorations with edible items include fruits, edible flower decorations, chocolates, and many such items.

The look and decorations of the cake can also be kept in line with the theme of the wedding or with the wedding attires of the groom and the bride.  For instance, a San Francisco themed wedding can include pastel hues of the area’s Victorian houses on the cake.

So, take your time and research well before ordering the most important aspect of your wedding.

Planning the Wedding Guest List and Wedding Invitations

Jul
06

Planning the wedding guest list is the most hectic and complicated task in wedding planning. The completion of the guest list is followed by the wedding invitations. Involvement of all your loved and dear ones in your wedding is important for you so the process of sending wedding invitations requires a lot of care and sensitivity on the part of the bride and the groom. The total number of guests is also important from the statistical point of view, as it helps to decide the size of the wedding hall, quantity of food, and other related expenses.

Before starting the process of sending wedding invitations it is important to decide upon the medium of sending them. This can include invitation cards, invitation on telephone, emails, or through a reply card. The choice of invitation medium can depend upon the number of guests and your relationship with them. For instance if you are inviting a very dear friend of yours then you don’t have to make a personal call as he/she would already  know about the dates and venue of the wedding, and thus, a simple invitation card would be enough. But if you are inviting a relative or friend whom you have not spoken to for a long time then to break the ice, a phone call would be better idea.

Reply cards are a good option to know the response of the people in your guest list. When you send a reply card invitation, the person receiving it will send it back which helps you to know whether that person would turn up in your wedding or not. It is a reliable option for deciding many other arrangements in relation to the guests, especially food and selection of wedding venue.

Wedding cards are the most common type of wedding invitation. These cards should be sent to every single person in your wedding list. The main thing to decide and choose in case of invitation cards is their looks. Since a wedding is a happy and joyful event, wedding cards should also be happy and joyful.  Think of teaming up colors with some interesting patterns, themes, and shapes. These patterns and themes can be either of your personal choice or can be based on the ongoing trends and fashion.

Wedding cards usually involve invitations for all the ceremonies attached to the wedding, and thus, all the details should be clearly given in it. The timing and venue of all the ceremonies of the wedding should be clearly mentioned in the card, so that you don’t have to go through continuous inquiry calls. The details mentioned in the invitation cards should also include the dress code and theme of the wedding.

One can get their wedding cards printed either professionally or can make them personally. Personal designing of the card can be done either by hand or through computers. However, keep in mind that having them printed professionally  lets you include the latest designs and patterns in your invitation cards and also frees you from the time consuming task of making them yourself. However, if you are planning a small wedding, and thinking of cutting down the budget, then go and make your own personal card. Whatever you choose to do, always remember that everyone whom you wish would attend your wedding gets the invitations way before the wedding, so that he/she can adjust their schedule accordingly.
