VH1 Greatest Artists with Best Songs for Weddings 20-1

May
30

VH1 released a list of the greatest artists of all-time.  However, we would like to take that list and provide our favorite wedding song by those artists.  Here is our continuation for numbered artists 20-1.  Some artists listed do not perform music considered standard wedding music.  If we are speechless on a suggestion, please offer your own as a comment.  We will consider making changes to our list.

20 Marvin Gaye – Marvin was one of the best male R&B artists of all-time.  Too bad his life ended too early.  There are many songs Marvin created that are suitable for a wedding.  However, our favorite is Ain’t No Mountain High Enough sung with Tammi Terrell.
19 U2 – One of the best rock bands of all-time.  A great way to start wedding festivities is Beautiful Day.
18 Pink Floyd – We could choose Money for the dollar dance but many brides feel the dollar dance as asking for money.  Therefore, we’ll select Mother for the Mother Son dance.
17 Queen – You’re My Best Friend can be played in so many scenarios during a wedding reception.  Play it for parent dances, for friends or even a first dance.
16 Madonna – We could easily select Vogue as an iconic dance party song.  However, our pick is the love song Crazy For You.  This song also played in two scenes in the movie Vision Quest.
15 The Beach Boys – If you are slower tempo song, we select Kokomo.  For a more upbeat song we select Good Vibrations.
14 Nirvana – The most mainstream song by Nirvana was Smells Like Teen Spirit.  However, for the Nirvana fan we would select Heart Shaped Box.
13 The Who – This was actually a difficult pick.  We select a great grand entrance song (being from Las Vegas) from the hit show CSI – Who Are You.
12 David Bowie – Our wedding song pick is appropriately called The Wedding Song.
11 Bob Marley – The reggae master hits all the right wedding notes in his song Three Little Birds.
10 Stevie Wonder – Our favorite wedding song by Stevie is You Are The Sunshine Of My Life.  However, a great song just about the bride is Isn’t She Lovely.
09 James Brown – Let’s get everyone to the dance floor and feel good with I Got You (I Feel Good).
08 Elvis Presley – One of the most romantic songs of all time sung in a’capella is Can’t Help Falling In Love.
07 Prince – What a great way to have the bride and groom kiss is every time Prince sing Kiss, the bride and groom must kiss.  This is better than tinging on glasses and ringing bells.
06 Jimi Hendrix – A great song all about ladies for the bouquet toss and all about the ladies present at a wedding reception is Foxey Lady.
05 Bob Dylan – For all the folk fans I don’t think you would be disappointed with I Want You.
04 Rolling Stones – If you want an entrance song, football games commonly began with Start Me Up.  To get people on the dance floor, we suggest Brown Sugar.
03 Led Zeppelin – This is a coin flip for our favorite Led Zeppelin wedding song between Thank You and All Of My Love.
02 Michael Jackson – You could select Thriller as a fantastic group dance.  For a love song we select I Just Can’t Stop Loving You.
01 The Beatles – Being former wedding DJs, the 2 most popular Beattles songs that were most commonly requested were When I’m Sixty-Four and In My Life.

This is our conclusion of our favorite wedding songs by the greatest artists of all-time as ranked by VH1.

How to Choose a Perfect Wedding Venue

May
26

Selecting a wedding venue is much more than a job of searching a big and beautiful banquet, as there are many practical things, attached to it. To select a perfect wedding venue, it is important that couples consider things beyond the grandeur of the wedding hall. Selection of the venue should be made after putting enough considerations in terms of different aspects, which we will discuss in this article. Some of the aspects that are necessary to consider before selecting your wedding venue includes space, accessibility, location, distance, facilities, payment policy, hidden cost, staff, and any other additional facilities that you may require.

The first and the foremost thing that should be considered before you finalize your wedding venue is the location. Location of your wedding venue, whether its destination wedding, outdoor wedding or a wedding hall, is crucial so as to make sure that all of your guests are able to access and reach the place easily. Moreover, there should be enough space for the arrival and parking of the vehicles of your guests along with your own wedding car. If you are going for a theme wedding, then choosing a related place is all the more important, especially for beach theme, retro theme, nature theme etc.

Other thing that should be considered while booking your wedding venue is the size of location or the hall, which should be according to the number of guests you are expecting. You shouldn’t opt for a too big place if you have a small guest list, as it will be a total waste of money, especially if it’s a hall. On the other hand, you would not also like that, there is insufficient space for the guests. The space should also be enough to accommodate the activities you have planned for your wedding, like DJ, orchestra, dancing etc. Also, make sure that your wedding venue is already an enchanting and beautiful place, so that you don’t have to spend too much on the decoration.

Another important factor that is significant is the staff and facilities available at the venue. Do consider that there are some guest rooms as well as proper rest rooms. Moreover, see the number of staff that will be provided for attending the guests, and ensure that they are well trained and competent enough to handle any unexpected situation on the D-day. Any other additional facility that you may need for the convenience of your guests or for yourself should also be checked and asked for.

Along with all the above factors, one very important factor to be kept in mind is the price of the venue. Always cross check, their prices with the ones offered at other venues before finalizing. In case of destination wedding, do consider the other costs like accommodation for guests and travelling expense, apart from the venue rates. Do not forget to clear all important things like payment schedule, any hidden cost, overtime charges, and cancellation policy. Moreover, ensure that the venue owners have their liquor license and other legal documentations in place, so that no problem arises there-from.

Dealing with all these things carefully, you will be able to select a perfect wedding venue for making your wedding all the more special.

Wedding Decoration that Reflects your Persona

May
24

You choose your wedding dress, wedding car, bouquet, wedding cake, and even the venue by yourself, very carefully considering every small requirement so that everything gets the touch of your personal taste and your partner’s choice. All these things are meant to make your wedding special and unique, thus, we are particular and anxious that every aspect of your D-day is just perfect. These things tend to reflect our persona and choice. However, when it comes to your wedding decorations most people usually leave it on the mercy of event managers or decorators. What couples don’t realize is that decoration is an important aspect of a wedding and it is the first thing that the wedding guests will notice. Thus, you cannot afford neglecting the wedding decoration and giving it a special personal touch for your dream wedding.

Selection of the material and styling for your wedding decorations can either be based on the wedding theme or you can select it as per your and your partner’s personal preference and budget. For instance, if you are a nature lover and are fond of flowers, then you can use more of a flowery arrangement at your wedding venue, which can include your favorite flowers or colors. On the other hand, if you want an indoor type arrangement then some balloon decorations with a combination of ribbons, silk drapes, flowers, and frills can also be a great idea. Here you can also play with colors by including either multi-colored balloons or ribbons or simply going with the while and red (the color of love) balloons. Experimentation can be done in terms of the shape of the balloons.

Every couple has their own idea of their wedding ceremony execution. If both the bride and the groom are of little introvert and do not like too much at one place, then having a formal decoration with very decent and elegant decoration is a good option. On the other hand, if both the bride and the groom are of fun loving and like to flaunt their style, then bringing some versatility to your decoration can be a good idea. In this case, you can play with colors and bring some unique items together to provide the venue a funky and playful look.

If you are among those, who have been planning from weeks to do something unique in your wedding so that it becomes the talk-of-the-town in the coming days, then go for over-the-top and sophisticated decorations. Try some specific themes like beach wedding, musical, 70s theme, retro theme, fairy tale and others, to give a unique charm to it. Try captivating lighting arrangements, if you are tying the knot in the night. Lighting schemes along with soft silk drapes with flowers will not only look elegant and charming, but it also very well fits in tight budget. It is not essential that lighting effect is given through artificial lighting only, but it can also be brought through candles. Candles are a good way to bring out a romantic and soothing atmosphere to your wedding; try scented and colorful candles for more effect. Another innovative lighting effect can be spotlights; however, they are more of a technical category and can prove out to be a little expensive.

Hope all these ideas and your personal touch ensures that you have a perfect wedding that will be cherished by not only you, but your loved ones as well for years.

The perfect wedding dress – How do you choose?

May
09

There are so many options out there.  Start with deciding on what type of bride you want to be.   Are you a modern bride?  Traditional or classic bride?  Maybe you are going to have a very casual wedding or a destination wedding? Or maybe you just want to go over the top on your special day.  No matter what you decide there is a wedding dress for everyone.

Let’s take the modern bride.  Modern dresses are becoming very popular.  These dresses include halter style necklines; mermaid skirts, asymmetry in necklines and skirts, higher hemlines, and exaggerated contours.  These are not the only items that make a dress more modern.  Modern dresses can also include flowing fabrics, 3-D flowers or embellishments, drapey blouson bodices, gauzy materials, or sheer materials for that peek a boo look.  How about a dress that unzips or unbuttons so your elegant wedding gown now becomes a shorter, easier to move in cocktail length dress?  A lot of the time, modern brides choose not to wear a veil but choose to do something elegant with their hair.  What about something simple in your hair?

A traditional gown has a timeless air about it.  A traditional gown has equal parts of romanticism and sophistication about it.  Most traditional gowns are floor length.  It can just come to the floor or if you prefer it can have a train.  They can be sleeveless or have some sort of sleeve or strap. Two of the most common types of traditional wedding gowns are the A-line and the princess.  Most brides who want to stay with a traditional gown will also choose to wear a veil.  Usually traditional brides have some sort of veil.  Choose either a short and simple “blusher” veil or more elaborate elbow-length.

How about that wedding on the beach?  That may not call for a traditional gown.  Something a little more casual would be appropriate.  You will probably want to stay with a shorter gown, possibly knee length.  Fabrics with this type of dress are the key.  Keep with materials that are breezy and light.  Empire style dresses are good for outdoor weddings in the warmer climates because they only cling just under the bust line and gently skim the rest of the body keeping you light and cool.  Don’t forget this also works well with an outdoor wedding of any type, not just the beach.  With this type of casual gown, try a delicate floral woven head wreath to help keep your hair out of your face.

Are you the type of bride who just wants to go over the top?  Well it is your special day and you can have anything you want.  If that is the case go BIG.  If you are going to do it, do it with everything you have.  Make sure your dream dress is something spectacular.  The dress is going to be long, with cathedral trains six to eight feet behind you.  Or they are going to be full with layers of material.  Don’t forget the bling!  Bodices will have lots of it, either in the form of pearls, sequins, rhinestones or combinations of all of the above.  Over the top dresses call for over the top headpieces, think tiara or extra long, multi-layer veil.

Great Ideas for Bridesmaid Gifts

May
05

Bridesmaids play a very important role throughout the wedding. Right from counseling the bride, helping with all the preparations and wedding planning, to providing emotional support to the bride, the role of bridesmaids can never be ignored. To appreciate their presence and effort to make the wedding successful and a memorable event, nothing can be better than gifting them something that they will treasure and remember lifelong. This article will provide you with some great ideas for bridesmaid gift.

When you check out the shops or online stores, you will find that there are numerous bridesmaid gifts available in the market. Some are fun gifts, while there are others which are practical and useful. While selecting gifts for your bridesmaids, there is only one thing that you must remember. Your bridesmaids should love the gifts that you have chosen for them and at the same time, the gifts should reflect the relationship and the strong bonds that you have shared for all this time.

Bridesmaids are the dearest friends of the bride, who have stood by her through thick and thin, provided a shoulder to cry and also made her laugh numerous times. Therefore while selecting gifts for them, the bride needs to be very selective, because it is one of the best ways through which she can reciprocate the feelings and express them what they mean to her.

The traditional bridesmaid gifts are usually something which can be used in the wedding ceremony itself. The most common bridesmaid gifts include fashion jewelry or purses, which complement the bridesmaid dresses. If you too are planning to buy some nice jewelry for your bridesmaids, you should select something according to their personality, and not only according to the color and design of the bridesmaid dresses. Instead of buying a single ring or a bracelet, it will be better if you buy a complete set of necklace, earring and bracelets for your bridesmaids and make them feel special. However, if your bridesmaids don’t like to wear too much jewelry, then you can go for some nice and fashionable bracelet, anklet or ring.

Nowadays the handmade jewelries are very much in. If you are creative and have sufficient time in your hands, you can design and make some beaded jewelry for your bridesmaids yourself. It will be definitely more valuable for them, then any fashion jewelry. You can always take the help of the internet or handmade jewelry catalogues for design ideas.

If you want to gift something unique and new, you can gift your bridesmaids a complete makeup kit, so that they can get ready in your wedding and also in the future. If your bridesmaids are more into books and music, then you can gift them books written by their favorite authors or a nice music album. Another unique bridesmaid gift idea is to gift them a gift coupon of a spa or massage center, where they can go, relax and get themselves pampered after the hectic wedding schedule.

No matter what you choose, your bridesmaids should cherish and remember your gift for a lifetime.
