November 26, 2009 -- ClearSky Climate Solutions (ClearSky) announces that WeddingMuseum.com has become a climate-neutral company! Additionally, WeddingMuseum.com is teaming up with ClearSky to host ClearSky's Wedding Carbon Footprint Calculator for their clients and visitors. WeddingMuseum.com recognizes transportation, energy use, and lodging associated with weddings have an impact on the atmosphere. Now Weddingmuseum.com is offering bridal couples the chance to calculate their wedding carbon footprint and make their wedding climate neutral.
ClearSky has performed a greenhouse gas (GHG) assessment of WeddingMuseum.com's GHG emissions for 2009, including office energy use and server energy for hosting their web site. WeddingMuseum.com already has an extremely low carbon footprint - they have minimal emissions associated with commuting, paper use, travel and printing activities. The total estimated carbon footprint for WeddingMuseum.com in 2009 is less than 1 metric ton of CO2 equivalent. WeddingMuseum.com has set an emissions reduction target of 5% below 2009 levels for 2010.
To go completely climate neutral, WeddingMuseum.com is purchasing certified carbon offsets from ClearSky to offset its 2009 carbon footprint and their projected 2010 carbon footprint. The offsets were generated from a project in Wisconsin, the Gordondale Dairy Methane Capture Project, which captures methane through the use of an anaerobic digester and then combusts the methane which produces a significant net reduction in the emissions at the facility.
