| WHO WE ARE |
Over the past 5 years Mike has spent more time outside the United Sates than in his native land. He was born and raised in North Idaho with his mom, dad, older brother, and younger sister. Mike has traveled to over 25 countries due to missions related opportunities. For the past 8 months Mike has been living in North Idaho and has been working with his dad. Most importantly Mike loves Jesus because he found the meaning for life in making Jesus his Lord.
Kathy has had a similar life with the exception that she was born in Canada. However she moved to Airzona at about 2 years old and has lived there for most of her life. Kathy has 2 older and one younger brother and also a wonderful mom and dad. Kathy has also done a fair amount of traveling due to missions involvement. Most importantly Kathy, like Mike, was raised in a Christian home and came to understand the peace, love, fulfillment, and completeness in knowing Jesus Christ. Kathy's main goal is to know Jesus more and point others to Jesus. |
| HOW WE MET |
Mike and Kathy met in Hungary. They both had been attending Calvary Chapel Bible College and ended up at he same extension campus in Vajta, Hungary in the fall of 2004. After spending time around each other and participating in outreach trips together for a year they parted ways as just friends. However the school administration had asked both of them to return the following fall to participate in the Internship Program at CCBC Europe. They both agreed and returned. Shortly after their interships had started, they had a talk to clarify some potentially confusing "messages" that were being sent back and forth. They both agreed that in order to pursue a relationship, the only reason would be for the purpose of marriage. Thus began their relationship and here we are today! |
| THE PROPOSAL |
Kathy and Mike live in different states. This was a bit difficult since the majority of their relationship they had spent together at the Bible College and saw each other every day. Since September 2006 they have had a long-distance relationship only seeing each other every month or two. Kathy had visited Mike April 27-May 1. Upon returning to Arizona she informed Mike of her work schedule and it turns out she had 2 days off in the middle of the following week. So Mike quickly devised a plan to head to Arizona to propose. So he called Kathy's dad and asked for his permission, which he granted, and argeed to work with Mike to surprise Kathy. On Monday night May 7 Mike was in Arizona at her brother's appartment. As was normal they talked on the phone before going to bed. During the conversation Kathy made mention that she wished that Mike would have been able to come and visit. She surmised that if Mike was to come and surprise her he would have been waiting at the house when she got home from work. Kinda funny that she would mention a surprise visit! On May 8, the following day, Kathy's brother Tim had coerced her into going on a walk with him. He met her at a park and they started on their walk. Shortly after starting the walk Tim made mention that he had to put something back in the car. So Kathy kept walking. A few steps later as she was about a round a corner, Mike came from the opposite direction around the same corner. Kathy stopped, looking a bit confused, and said, "what are you doing here!?!" Mike kept walking a few more steps until they were face to face. Then he get down on one knee and asked Kathy to marry him. And she said YES! Wahoo! So now we are engaged! How great. And until then, wedding planning! |
