Known by many names, Mike (Ninja) and Del (Cathy) are a busy young couple living in the suburbs of Maryland, even though both of them are New Yorkers by birth. Mike spends his time working for a computer consulting firm and supporting his gaming company Slugfest Games. Del writes articles for various magazines and websites; she also teaches classes all over the East Coast. Together, they enjoy going to the drive in, eating out, playing board games, and spending time with friends. |
| How we met? |
Del was running a live action role playing game at a convention in New Jersey. Mike was manning a booth for Slugfest Games. A certain mutual friend encouraged Mike to play in one of Del's games, a circus game. Cast as half of a siamese twin, Mike spent more of the game trying to get Del's attention than accomplishing his goals.
When the convention ended, Del gave Mike her contact information, which was misplaced among all the paperwork for Slugfest. However, she had ordered a game, so he only had her mailing address. In this day and age of email and cell phones, he felt so strongly about talking to her again that he wrote her a real letter.
The rest, as they say, is history. They moved in together in March of 2006. |
| The proposal? | | Rumors began to circulate that a proposal was going to happen at a large event that Del was running, and Del starting believing the rumors. Unfortunately, Ninja had other plans - he wanted the proposal to be quiet and personal, not large and public. So a few days before the event, Ninja took Del out to a beautiful dinner and drive, wherein he gave her a beautiful ring and asked to marry her. Instead of a big proposal at the event, they announced their engagement. |

Instead of registering at the "normal" places, we've registered at thehoneymoon.com. This site will allow you to add your gift in helping us go on our honeymoon trip - an Alaskan cruise (to happen at some point next April).
We have chosen a few charities through the I Do Foundation.
Last year Mike was involved in creating and leading a team for American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. This year, he is also running a team, but the walk is taking place on Oct 21. We are raising money for them as well here, even though we won't be able to participate in the actual walk.
The artwork that is on the invitations and also on the website was created by Del's sister, Sara. |
