| Who we are now? | Barb was born and raised in Three Rivers Michigan. I have one daughter, Kaitlyn (15). My career is in sales, currently Telecom equipment (phone systems). Kaitlyn and I moved to Portage to live with Brent in July 2006.
Brent is from the Portage/Kalamazoo area. He has 3 children, Sierra (18), Ethan (18), and Rowan (15). He owns his own business now.... Garlow Snowplowing and Lawn Maintenance. The business is doing well and growing every season. Before becoming an entreprenuer, Brent was (and still is)a master mechanic with over 20 years of experience in his former career... gotta love having a mechanic in the family! |
| How we met? |
Funny story...through Brent's mom.
Dana and I have been friends since 2003. One day in '04, Dana asked me to follow her to Battle Creek so she could drop her car off to have her son do some work to it. So... off we went. When we got there she asked if she could introduce me to her youngest son... which I'd only heard stories about until then. So, I got out of my car and walked up to his bay at Henkle's. And bam... it was an instant connection. He was so sweet to his mom in front of a complete stranger, I thought... what a nice guy. (and he's hot too). We became close friends over the course of a couple of years... someone we both knew we could call up and vent to when life got crazy. |
| The proposal? | It was 4th of July weekend, Ludington, at sunset, on the pier. I was video taping the sunset for Kaitlyn, panning across the horizon from one side of the beach to the other. When I got to Brent he ducked out of the picture, then said "come back this way". I panned back and bam... he was holding the ring in front of the camera and asked me to marry him. I was in pure shock. I had also just gotten the camcorder and had NO idea how to shut if off! So it recorded everything. It was just so sweet.
I found out afterwards that EVERYONE knew that he was going to pop the question on our trip... I mean EVERYONE.

| Comments To Our Visitors | Brent and I are not registering for gifts. Instead, we are asking for "donations to the cause". Whatever you might normally spend on a gift for the newlyweds would be truely appreciated. Our hope is that we can have ALL of our family and friends join us to celebrate our special day together.
Many thanks go out to those of your who have volunteered to take on tasks for the day... we are still in search of more help... from pictures to videographer, hair/nails, decorating, etc. if you have resources, please let me know!
