| Who we are now? | | Douglas and I are very happy where we are at in our relationship because we have known very early that we were meant to be together so getting married wasn't a priority. Some couples change after getting married, I don't think we will. We are such a great match for each other and we look forward to growing old together. We have had so much fun already, we can't wait to see where we go from here. |
| How we met? |
| We had known each other for a few years before we started dating. We first met when I interviewed with Doug for a position at the AMA. I was married at the time. Needless to say, I didn't get the job due to salary restraints. Bascially, he couldn't afford me. A few years later I divorced and we had seen each other at different gatherings due to our mutual friendship with Cherie. Then in June of 2004 I was at an event called Com Fest in Columbus and saw my old boss from the AMA who is now in charge of the museum. I told him I was interested in volunteering for VMD and he said sure. I found out at that event that Cherie and our other friend Donna was there and I went to say hi to them. | The proposal? | | We were on our first real trip in Jamaica and he took me up to the 2nd story of this pier where is was so beautiful. We sat down and started talking and he started telling me about how great things have been and it has been a great adjustment with the kids, and so on. He then grabbed my hand and as I started to get suspicious, one of the waiters came up and asked if everything was ok. We said sure and he asked if we wanted some champagne. Doug said no we were fine and the waiter turned to leave. Then Doug changed his mind and said sure. The waiter came back and poured champagne for us and left. Doug made a tost and we took a sip.
