Love can touch us one time and last a lifetime..
My Heart Will Go On - Celine Dion

Who we are now?

How we met?
Jonny and I have known eachother for about five years now. We taught gymnastics together and were on the team together as well. We spent a lot of time training our doubles routine together. We became good friends and could always depend on eachother. As the years went by we grew closer until we knew we knew we had strong feelings for each other. Unfortunately, shortly after we started dating, he had to leave for medical school. After a year apart, I knew I wanted and that was Jonny. After spending another year together, we knew we wanted to spend forever together and so on our Hawaii trip, my love proposed. That brings us to today. Every day and moment we spend together is so special. I love him very much.

The proposal?
On June 23, 2007, my darling proposed to me, and I, of course, said yes. :) Our engagement was private, gorgeous, and definitely Jonnyesque.

To set the scene, Jonny and I had just arrived on the island of Kauai. Kauai is one of the least developed of the Hawaiian islands. There are no high rises, huge resorts, or highways. Even better are the waves of Kealia Beach, snorkeling at Lydgate Beach, the majestic Kipu and Waimea Falls, kayaking up Waimea River, and the forbidding cliffs of the Na Pali Coast. We spend the first couple days of our vacation visiting all these sites and just soaking up all that is Kauai, including the sun.

On our first Sabbath there, Jonny suggested we go to the top of Waimea Canyon to see the sun rise. Enthusiastically I agreed. We got up at 4:30 in the morning, because the top of the canyon was an hour and a half away, and began driving the winding road to the top. At about 3500 ft, we arrived at the scenic overlook, just as the sun was peaking over the mountain. The clouds were misty over the mountain and the ocean right next to us. The view was breathtaking and awe inspiring. As we both stood there, living the moment, Jonny began his speech. Though I can't quite recall all that he said to me, I do remember him being down on one knee, telling me how much he loved me, that he wanted to spend his whole life with me, and then asking me to marry him. I was so excited, all I could think of to say was YES!!! He stood up and I hugged him and kissed him, and with that, he became my fiancée.

After the initial excitement was over, we drove the rest of the way up the canyon, stopping at a couple more lookouts, just supremely happy to be together. For me, his proposal and our engagement was perfect. Though he was nervous and stumbled over his words, it made it all the more special. I felt like it was our engagement week being on Kauai, not just that morning, and I am so excited to have found the one for me.
